Some decisions you think your way through. This one you feel.
The moment you walk through our door at The Learning Cottage Nerang, something shifts. You see a child absorbed in play, an educator crouched down at their level, genuinely interested in what they have to say. You feel the warmth of a place that was built for children and run by people who chose this work because they love it.
We open our doors at 6.00am Monday to Friday, earlier than any other centre in Nerang, because we understand that families come in all shapes and with all kinds of schedules. Whether you are a nurse heading in for an early shift, a tradie starting at first light, or a parent simply trying to get ahead of the day, we are here when you need us.
This is not just childcare. This is the place your child will talk about on the way home.

Every Child, Seen and Known
At The Learning Cottage Nerang, your child is not a number on a roll. They are known. Their personality, their interests, the things that make them laugh and the things that take them a moment to warm up to. Our educators pay attention to all of it.
We believe children learn best when they feel safe enough to be curious. Our play-based program gives every child the freedom to explore, to ask questions, to try things and sometimes fail at them and try again. Through that process they build confidence, independence and the kind of resilience that stays with them long after they leave us.
Every room, every routine and every learning experience at our Nerang centre is shaped around the children who are actually in it. Not a template. Not a formula. Your child.
You Are Part of This Too
Choosing childcare is one of the hardest decisions a parent makes. We know that. And we never take it lightly.
At The Learning Cottage Nerang we treat families as genuine partners in their child’s learning journey. That means open communication, real updates shared throughout the day, and educators who actually know your child well enough to tell you something specific and meaningful when you come to pick them up.
We welcome every kind of family. Every background, every structure, every story. Our role is to support yours.
If you have been looking for a place where you can go to work and actually be present there, not distracted and not guilty, we would love to show you what that feels like.
The Heart of Everything
You can have beautiful spaces and the best curriculum in the world. What actually matters is the people.
Director Kerry leads our centre with a warmth and steadiness that sets the tone for everything. Families feel it from the first phone call. Children feel it from the first day. Kerry has built a culture here where every educator shows up not just qualified but genuinely invested in the children in their care.
Assistant Director Melissa brings that same commitment to the day-to-day life of the centre, making sure families are supported, routines run smoothly and every child transitions into their day feeling settled and safe.
Early Childhood Teacher Marcelina brings deep expertise and a natural gift for connecting with children at exactly the right level, meeting them where they are and guiding them forward with patience and skill.
Together with our incredible team of local Nerang educators, they have created something you cannot manufacture. A place where children are genuinely happy to be.
Owned and Operated by People Who Care About More Than the Bottom Line
The Learning Cottage Nerang is owned and operated by Lisa and Ben Peasley, the family behind Cherubs Early Learning Centre in Banora Point.
Lisa has spent over 20 years working in early childhood education across the Tweed and Gold Coast. Since opening Cherubs just over three years ago, she and Ben have built a centre that runs at full capacity year round, not through aggressive marketing but through genuine relationships with families and a standard of care that speaks for itself. Lisa leads as operational director across both centres, and she is hands on in a way that families notice and remember.
Ben works behind the scenes managing the business, marketing and growth side of Peasley Co, the company behind both centres. He has been on the steering committee of the SkyPoint Sea to Sky Q1 Stair Challenge for ten years, a major Gold Coast charity event supporting LIVIN’s mental health mission. In 2026 Lisa and Ben are proud sponsors of the event, hosting families and staff from both centres at the top of Q1 on the Gold Coast’s iconic tower. It is the kind of community involvement that reflects who they are, not just what they do.
Lisa and Ben chose The Learning Cottage Nerang because they believed in it. In the team, in the community and in what this centre could become. They are here for the long term.
Rooted in Nerang
At The Learning Cottage Nerang, community is not a page on a website. It is something we live every day.
We proudly acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land, the Yugambeh people, and pay our deepest respects to Elders past, present and emerging. Respect for country and culture is woven into the way we teach and the way we operate.
We are active participants in the Nerang and broader Gold Coast community. Our educators bring the outside world in through incursions and excursions that connect children to the people and places around them. We mark community events together, build awareness of the world beyond our walls and help children develop a genuine sense of belonging to something bigger than themselves.
This year Lisa and Ben Peasley are proud sponsors of the SkyPoint Sea to Sky Q1 Stair Challenge in support of LIVIN, a charity doing vital work in mental health. Ben has been on the event’s steering committee for a decade. It is a small reflection of the kind of operators who now call The Learning Cottage Nerang home.
Learning That Means Something
Our curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework, built around the principles of Belonging, Being and Becoming. Alongside the Munch and Move program, these frameworks shape every experience we plan and every decision we make across our Nerang centre.
We believe children learn best through play. Not passive play but rich, intentional, joyful play that stretches their thinking, builds their relationships and gives them real tools for the world. Our educators balance child-led discovery with thoughtful guidance, making space for curiosity while ensuring every child is growing across all areas of development.
Our program is available for families to view at any time. We actively encourage parents to share what is happening at home because the best learning happens when centre and family are working together.
Healthy, Happy and Ready to Learn
A child who feels well in their body shows up differently. They are more curious, more confident and more ready to connect with others and with ideas.
At The Learning Cottage Nerang, health and wellbeing are not add-ons. They are woven into every part of the day. Our educators model healthy habits, encourage physical activity and design experiences that build strength, coordination and emotional resilience alongside each other.
Through the Munch and Move program we help children understand what it means to look after themselves, from what they eat to how they move to how they rest. These are habits that stay with them.
Food That Fuels Little Learners
We are a registered Munch and Move centre and proud of it. All meals are provided daily, so there is one less thing on your plate as a parent. Our approach to nutrition is simple. Fresh, balanced, nourishing food served in an environment that makes healthy eating feel normal and enjoyable.
Our educators lead food preparation and cooking experiences that connect children to where food comes from, including fresh produce from our own organic garden.
We cater for all dietary needs, allergies and cultural requirements without fuss, because every child deserves to feel included at the table.
We follow the Australian 24-Hour Movement Guidelines for the Early Years and incorporate all 13 NSW Fundamental Movement Skills into our weekly program. Movement and nutrition work together here, not as programs but as part of who we are.
A Space That Feels Like It Was Made for Children
Because it was.
Our centre at The Learning Cottage Nerang has been designed to feel calm, beautiful and alive. Natural elements alongside purposeful spaces. Rooms that invite exploration without overwhelming. An outdoor environment that encourages children to move, discover and connect with the world around them.
We embed sustainability into daily life. Recycling, gardening, mindful use of resources. Our educators model care for the environment because we believe children who learn to respect the world around them grow into people who make it better.
Qualified, Committed and Here Because They Want to Be
Every educator at The Learning Cottage Nerang holds the qualifications you would expect. What you cannot put on a certificate is the reason they get up and come to work every morning.
Our team engages regularly in professional development, critical reflection and peer learning because they are genuinely committed to getting better at what they do. Roles are clearly defined, leadership is strong and supportive, and the culture Kerry has built here is one where educators thrive.
When educators are happy, children feel it. It is that simple.
